Cinderella, the iconic tale of a downtrodden heroine who rises from ashes to glory, returns to Peninsula Ballet Theatre as part of our 50th Anniversary celebrations.
First presented in 1981, the ballet was an instant success with both audiences and dance critics. This is the story that has captured the imagination of audiences for over 400 years. The ballet is full of magic, including the fairy godmother, unicorns, dragonflies, fairies from every season, princesses, and of course a handsome prince who immediately falls in love with the transformed Cinderella.
Kay Donetelli, former first soloist with Peninsula Ballet Theatre is returning to direct this beloved ballet. Cast in the original production as a princess and the spring fairy Donatelli has already begun rehearsals. “I am so thrilled to be setting this magical ballet on a new generation of dancers. I know they will enjoy this just as much as I did.”
Performances for the full length production are February 24-26 at the Carlmont Performing Arts Center.
As part of our Sweet Ballet Productions™ for our Petite Patrons, Cinderella Sweet will be presented March 4th and 5th. Sweet Productions are 45 minute, just as magical, versions of ballet specially crafted for our youngest audience ages 3 to 6. They are presented in the intimate setting of our Studio One Theatre in San Mateo. These productions sell out every performance.
